The protected area is occupied by the southern and southwestern slopes of the hill with the same name at the edge of the geomorphological subunit of the Verneřické Central Highlands. The subjects of protection are herbs with the occurrence of the grasshoppers (Pulsatilla pratensis subsp. Bohemica and P. patens) and their hybrids, the P. haeckelii. However, ongoing observations show that the observed species have been in decline since the 1970s, and the cause of this phenomenon has not been sufficiently clarified. The locality is strongly impacted by industrial immissions, which is the reason for the gradual extinction of the old pine forest on the top plateau, close to the natural monument. The area is part of the locality Holý hill near Hlinná and is a Special Area of Conservation (protection of the Pulsatilla patens).
To the east there is Křížová hora, Sedlo, Vlhošť and part of Ralská upland including the highest peak, south and southeast Litoměřice, Říp on the horizon, southwest Milešovské Central Highlands, west to northwest a smaller part of Krušné mountains, northwest to north Varhošť and Holý hill, to the northeast Babinská fields and top parts off the Dlouhý hill of Babinská fields. Below the top we can find the rocky natural rubble. There is a small cave on the southwest side of one of the rocky outcrops.
