Lipská hora (Leipzig Mountain)

A lesser-known hill of the Bohemian Central Highlands offering one of the most beautiful views of the Bohemian Central Highlands.

Lipská hora, sometimes also Medvědice, is the 8th highest mountain in the Bohemian Central Highlands with its 689 metres. It is surrounded by other peaks and spires in the vicinity, so it is not very conspicuous. It is best visible from the southeast. There is a turn off the red marked hiking trail leading from Medvědice to Lhota. The visitor is rewarded with a beautiful view for a rather difficult climb with an elevation of more than 200 metres (from Lhota).

A large part of the Leipzig Mountain has been protected as a nature reserve since 1951. It includes the southern half of the slopes and the top part of the strongly asymmetrical bundle of trachytic gneiss and was declared to protect a number of rare plant species that occur here. In particular, these include the grey hawthorn and bearberry. Other rare species include thin-flowered bluebell, lily of the valley, two-leaved vellum, large-flowered honey-vetch, golden-headed lily and spring dogwood.
