Bicycle trip to Vít's lookout tower and Bukovka

The bicycle trip to Vít's lookout tower and Beech Mountain can be taken from several places. Nice cycling routes and unique views await you.

More demanding variants of the bike tour

The more demanding variant of this bike tour starts in Děčín or Ústí nad Labem. In both variants, the route leads first along the Elbe cycle route, specifically to Těchlovice at the Přední Lhota crossroads. From the crossroads, continue along cycle route No. 3124 and you will have a rather demanding hike up Bukova hora via Rytířov. Nice forest asphalts will lead you after 600 vertical metres to the Buková hora transmitter. However, it does not serve as a lookout tower, so we recommend visiting the nearby Humboldt Lookout, which is reached by a red hiking trail and offers a beautiful view of the Bohemian Central Highlands. From Bukovka we recommend continuing through the pastures to the Vít's lookout tower near Náčkovice, which offers another very nice view. From here, the route leads to Verneřice and then along cycle route 3125 through the picturesque village of Merboltice to the valley of the Ploučnice River. Cycle route No. 15 - the Ploučnice cycle path - will lead you back to Děčín. In Děčín you can visit the castle, the aquapark or the beautiful viewpoint on the Shepherd's Wall. If you continue to Ústí nad Labem, you will have another 25 km along the Elbe cycle route. If the trip is already too long for you, you can use the train connection and return to Ústí by train.

Litoměřice Town

Litoměřice is located at the confluence of the Elbe and Ohře rivers, on the border of the Bohemian Central Highlands and the Polabska Lowlands, in the famous and picturesque wine region of Bohemia.

Where to go in Litoměřice?

  1. The town's Kalich lookout tower, which was built in the 16th century. The tower offers a beautiful view of the historic centre of the town, the confluence of the Elbe and Ohře rivers and the surrounding landscape of the Bohemian Central Highlands. The entrance gate not only to the Kalice, but also to other city exhibitions - Richard Mine, Mácha's World or guided tours of the city is the Information Centre in the arcade of the Litoměřice Town Hall on Mírový náměstí.
  2. The tower at St. Stephen's Cathedral on Dome Hill, which offers an equally magical view from a height of 65 metres. You can also get a bird's eye view of the gardens of the bishop's residence. The adjacent cathedral is only open in summer - so take a peek!
You can visit both sights during the summer together with Litoměřice churches within 1 ticket for 130 CZK!
The tourist product THE CIRCLE MONUMENTS AND SIGHTS OF LITOMĚŘICE is unique and only available for tourists during July and August. Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings, protected in the town's conservation reserve, declared in 1978, will remind you of the historical glory of royal Litoměřice as mute witnesses. Of the 256 buildings, 104 are listed on the state list of immovable cultural monuments and almost all of them can be found in the historic city centre, which is largely bounded by preserved Gothic fortifications.
Houses around the square, historical cellars, many churches, a museum, several galleries and many other attractions are waiting for your interest and your visit.

TIP

Take a walk through the castle parks - here you will find not only peace and quiet, but also a beautiful view of the old Litoměřice with the Dómský hill or the panorama of the Bohemian Central Highlands with Hazmburk and the memorable Říp mountain.

However, Litoměřice is not only a city rich in history, but also a city alive with culture and sport. Visitors will find galleries, museums, theatre and cinema, various sports facilities, swimming pools and golf courses. The exhibition centre hosts a number of exhibitions throughout the year, the most visited of which is the Garden of Bohemia in autumn .
