Cycle trip on the route Ústí nad Labem - Decin - by boat there and by bike back
Set off from Ústí nad Labem by boat to Děčín and return along the Elbe Trail by bike. The trip is ideal for families with children. The Ústí - Děčín trail is almost the entire length of a car-free cycle path.
The boat line of the Transport of the Ústí nad Labem Region with the designation 92 departs from the station Ústí nad Labem-centrum at 9:30 and reaches Děčín in less than two hours. If you want to stay in Děčín, be sure to visit the viewpoint on the Shepherd's Wall and you can also visit the nearby Děčín Zoo or the local castle. For more tips on where to go in Děčín, visit the local information centre. And where to go with your bike? At the Shepherd's Wall and at the information centre, you can use the bike boxes to store your bike and go exploring Děčín in peace. It's divine...
️ On the way back you will have a relaxing 25 km along the Elbe Trail. If you want to stop at an interesting place on the way, make sure to choose Velké Březno. Here you can visit a castle with a beautiful garden or arrange a tour with beer tasting at the Březňák brewery.
This trip is only possible in the months when the boat line is running (i.e. mostly March, April, May, part of September, October and part of November). More info on the boat line.
Our tip - before your trip, visit the Cycle Centre in Ústí nad Labem. Here you can get tourist materials and you can also get your bike inflated.
Length of the trip by bike: 25 km
Route: Ústí nad Labem - Děčín (by boat) - Těchlovice - Velké Březno - Ústí nad Labem.
Is this trip too short for you and yet you are tempted by the combination of boat and bike trip? If so, you can take the same boat line to Dolní Žleb and extend your trip by the route Dolní Žleb - Děčín. This will extend your trip by about 10 km.
Stops
Velké Březno Chateau
The chateau is located in the village of Velké Březno, 8 km east of the center of Ústí nad Labem.
Velké Březno Chateau was built in 1843-1845 for the highest burgrave of the Czech Kingdom – Sir Karel Chotek – in the style of late Austrian Empire. It was rebuilt later in the style of romantic Neo-Renaissance. Žofie Chotková, the granddaughter of the chateau founder, also lived here. As the wife of the successor to the Habsburg throne Franz Ferdinand d'Este, she was shot dead with her husband during the Sarajevo assassination which lead to the World War I.
The chateau is surrounded by beautiful Englihs landscape park with many rare trees and bushes. The interesting thing is that there is one more chateau in Velké Březno, that was built in the 16th century, and it is sometimes referred to as the older chateau or – thanks to its position – the downhill chateau. Currently, this old mansion is used as a home for seniors.
