Litoměřice Wine Trail

The area through which the Litoměřice Wine Trail route passes is undoubtedly one of the richest in terms of nature and one of the most attractive tourist attractions in the Protected Landscape Area of the Central Bohemian Uplands.

The official beginning of the Litoměřice Wine Trail is in the yard of Litoměřice Castle, but you may join it anywhere and follow just some parts of it. Its total length is over 15 kilometres and it runs on both banks of the Labe river.

There are nine information boards along the trail that will guide you through the interesting places of the wine-producing region of Litoměřice. From Litoměřice, it will take you to the top of Radobýl hill, where you will find one of the boards. It continues to Žalhostice, Velké Žernoseky, then - taking a ferry - to Malé Žernoseky, and through Lhotka village to Lovosice where the Litoměřice Wine Trail finishes.

Following the trail, you may have a chance to visit the well-known local wine producers and taste their wines. We believe that you will enjoy the trip and love the wine.

Malé Žernoseky - St. Tomas winery

This stop connects seamlessly to the previous information panel. Like possible for most local wines, we have just traveled from the vineyard to the place of processing, ie to the St. Tomas family winery.

In front of just us is a historic building, the so-called Phannschmidt's farm. The winery uses an historical press and cellar. The press was built in 1739 and now its premises are used for processing, maturing and storing wine. Furthermore, the winery has reserved a part of these historic premises for wine tasting and sale.

Winery of St. Tomas offers tastings and cellar tours. Visits are possible on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Alternatively, it is possible to arrange a different day after prior negotiation.

Wines from the production of this winery are treated and processed exclusively by hand, as gently as possible. Both traditional white and red wines, which mature in oak barrels, are cautiously produced from grapes. Part of the blue grapes is processed by white wine technology on Pinot Noir Klaret.

For his careful work in 2014 was Mr. Zdeněk Vybíral Jr. awarded by the Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic. And during the Vinařská Litoměřice event he won the golden winning glass for the Pinot Gris wine, a selection of grapes from the year 2013. This award only proves the quality of wines from Malé Žernoseky. So don't hesitate and visit the local winemakers. You will surely enjoy their wines.

WHERE TO CONTINUE NOW?

Now the wine trail continues across the country path (follow the marks of the nature trail) to Lhotka nad Labem. From Lhotka, the trail continues along the vineyards to the next stop called Pod Lovošem, where the penultimate information board is

If you have just descended from Lovos to Malé Žernoseky, then continue to the vineyards of the St. Tomas winery and further to the Elbe, where you can use the ferry for transport to Velké Žernoseky.
